The City of Warrensburg, Missouri created Warrensburg Arts Commission by bill number 1-1-09, ordinance number 4429. WAC replaced the Arts Advisory Board.
Purpose
Warrensburg Arts Commission establishes and oversees programs related to public awareness of, accessibility to, participation in and support for arts and cultural activities in the City of Warrensburg.
Membership
Warrensburg Arts Commission consists of seven (7) persons appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of City Council. Each member serves a five-year term, with the first commission consisting of members with terms of one, two, three, four, four, and five years, respectively.
Qualifications
The ordinance requires that at least three members should have significant knowledge and demonstrated interest in the arts. While members are not required to live in Warrensburg, they must demonstrate an interest in arts within Warrensburg. At least one member should represent the business and professional community. At least one member should be selected from Warrensburg R-VI School District and the University of Central Missouri, respectively.
